The Menopause Charity is proud to join forces with Improper Agency and Clear Channel for the launch of a groundbreaking national campaign, ‘Educate Yourself’. This initiative aims to bring menopause to the forefront of public discussion, smashing stereotypes and breaking down taboos.

From 14 October, the Educate Yourself campaign will appear on Clear Channel’s digital screens across the UK as part of the build-up to World Menopause Day. The campaign takes a fresh, lighthearted approach to highlight some of the lesser-known symptoms of menopause and encourage a broader understanding of the experience.

Educate Yourself

Together with key partners Black Women in Menopause and Menopause Café, we’re united in a shared vision: to ensure people have access to the right information and support as they navigate their personal menopause journey.

Nicky Thompson, Creative Director at Improper shared the inspiration behind the campaign:

The 93% of women asking for more conversation and education in this highly personal and emotional area was the catalyst of the campaign concept; educate, educate, educate! Through a playful approach, the campaign asks everyone to “Educate Yourself” as destigmatisation is long overdue. We all need to know more, because with knowledge comes change. As someone who is going through this journey themselves, spending time and exchanging diverse stories and experiences I hope this campaign will shift perspectives on something that affects half of the UK’s population.”

There’s No One-Size-Fits-All

The Menopause Charity is dedicated to providing trustworthy information that empowers women and individuals experiencing menopause to understand the changes they’re experiencing.  Our aim is to help everyone find discover the lifestyle changes and treatment options available and so they can make an informed choice.  Crucially, we want everyone to feel seen and heard in the menopause conversation.

We want people to identify the changes that are happening to them and find out what to do next.  But it is vital people can identify themselves in the menopause conversation.

Inclusivity is at the heart of the Educate Yourself campaign. It features a wide range of individuals, each sharing their unique experiences with menopause. These include:

  • Sheree Hargreaves, who experienced early onset menopause at 15
  • Emma Livingstone, founder of Up – The Adult Cerebral Palsy Movement
  • Zeph Churchill, a former nurse turned comedian with a menopause-themed show
  • Ola Fagbohun, a mid- to later-life women’s health practitioner

Jenny Haskey, CEO of the charity says: “Menopause has been kept in the shadows for far too long, wrapped in taboo and stigma. It’s fantastic to see the conversation opening up, but we know many still feel left out. That’s why we’re thrilled to be part of this bold and inspiring national campaign! At The Menopause Charity, we believe everyone should be able to access trustworthy information and feel seen, heard, and included—because there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ when it comes to menopause.”
